Minden hónapban bedobjuk, hogy "azért elég gyengék az ehavi eresztések", most
viszont valahogy egymás után sikerült a csalódásokat behúznunk. Az új ASSEMBLAGE
23 maxiban nyoma sincsen annak a pörgs, keserédes agressziónak, amitl most a
scene fele az új táncos EBMnek hívja Tomékat, a MOI DIX MOIS második nagylemeze
tényleg a japán Cradle of Filth bzét hozza, ezerszer hallott tételekkel, az új
THE CURE pedig nekünk összességében kifáradtnak, öregnek és unalmasnak tnt. Ezzel
szemben a KLINIK új lemeze igazi francia techno-hangulatot áraszt, a szürkébbik,
F Communicationsös vonalra gondolok itt, a KIEW sosem volt egy nemtetsz dolog,
akármit is letett, a RAMMSTEIN még mindig ugyanazt a három riffet játssza, de
legalább a Pet Shop Boys-féle remixek enyhítenek a lemez egysíkúságán valamit.
Ami a többieket illeti, nézzetek utánuk, favoritunk az amúgy els helyen végzett
BLANK VS MOONITOR split lemeze, amire egy tempóban rázta a csapat a fejét.
Nem szép, de elég költi látvány, tegyük hozzá.
Saying "this month's releases are weak beyond recognition" became a household
trademark but this time we really sucked on a disappointment cock, take it as
a damn metaphor. No signs of the stompy and bittersweet aggression on the new
ASSEMBLAGE 23 maxi which would really make Tom and his crew the new dancefloor
EBM in the scene, as for the second album of MOI DIX MOIS, it reeks like a Japanese
Cradle of Filth with tunes beyond boredom. The latest THE CURE album, well, all
in all we find it exhausted, old and boring. On the other hand, the latest KLINIK
radiates with some genuine French techno feeling, think F Communications, KIEW has
never has been something we just partially liked and RAMMSTEIN, well, they still
know and play those three riffs, it's the Pet Shop Boys remixes that add the extra
spice to the disc. As for the others, check up on them, our fave is the real top
one BLANK VS MOONITOR split disc to which the whole crew banged heads in unisono.
Not a nice sight, but definitely poetic.

Vasárnap reggel nyúzottak az arcok, ahogy gyalogol a csapat a HQ felé,
kávé, alap, sok cukorral, alap, kávécigi erkélyen még jobban. Kis ötösünk
elég jó hónapot tudhatott be az electro-industrial jegyében - elsõ helyezettünk
a szokásos havi régiség, a 2002-ben kiadott finn, erõsen a korai Covenantra
hajazó
KUROSHIO CURRENT anyaga, utána pedig rögtön következik a hónap
legjobb legújabb dolga, a
THE SEPIA nagylemeze. Felváltva megy industrial
és gitárral megfésült pokolkeltés, az új NIGHTWISH nem változott semmit a többihez
képest, a 69 EYES rossz és közhelyes, mint eddig, a VELVET ACID CHRIST gyûjteményes
második része aláznivalóan rossz, a LAST DAYS OF JESUS Addams Familyt idézõ
deathrockja viszont erõsen verhetetlen. A PRAGA KHAN a pontszámokból láthatóan
erõsen csajos zene (le is ment Katta kollegina divatbemutatóján), a többi pedig
olyan, amilyen. A gumicsirkék nem voltak velünk, maradt a pizza, a narancslével
és szénsavas üdítõvel ötvözött guaranás-taurinos energiaital és az utána következõ
akut és örök fejfájás. A következõ hónapban visszatérünk. Valószínûleg.
Exhausted beyond recognition are the faces as our little crew is heading towards
the HQ. Coffee, default, with lots of sugar, default, coffee-and-smoke on the
balcony, even more default than anything that has ever been default before. Our
top material is a monthly-oldie, laid down by Finnish KUROSHIO CURRENT, much in
the vein of early COVENANT, released in 2002. Next - is the newest and best album
of the month by THE SEPIA. After that, industrial and guitar-based hellraising,
round by robin. NIGHTWISH hasn't changed anything since their LP, any LP, THE 69 EYES
is still crappy and full of clichés, as usual, the 2nd compilation by VELVET ACID
CHRIST is their demos at their worst BUT the Addams-Familyesque deathrock of THE
LAST DAYS OF JESUS is almost unbeatable. PRAGA KHAN is back with some real girlie
shit (just see who gave good scores, man, and anyways, I've played that track on
our crew member Katta's fashion show!), as for the rest, check out the scores and
see for yourself. No rubber chicken with us, so we had to make do with pizzas,
mixtures of orange juice, some soft drink and guarana-taurine-based energy drinks
and consequently, an acute and permanent migraine. We'll be back in the next
month. Most probably, that is.

Fáradt vasárnapi hangulat, két gumicsirke, semmi érdemleges reakció. Ami a zenét illeti: a februári hónap nem lett igazából a legjobb új eresztések terén, leszámítva az új
VELVET ACID CHRISTot (a számok nagy részét már régóta ismerhettük), a
GOD MODULE remasterelt és extrákkal ellátott új anyagát, az új
:WUMPSCUT:ot, a RAZED IN BLACK által producerált (éjjenamagyarnyelv)
EMERGENCEt... a
SECRET DISCOVERY nagyon tipikusan tizennégy és tizennyolc közé targetáló albumán nagy jópontot adtunk az I Turn to You c. amúgy ex-Spice Girls Mel C-slágerre (amire még személy szerint csomót Dance with Intensityztem, de ez egy másik téma). A
CHANDEEN triphopba nyúló sokszázdolláros nõi vokálos etûdjeit kevesen ették, az érdekes módon elnagyolt
FAIRLIGHT CHILDREN (Apoptygma Berzerk-sideproject) annál hangosabb tetszést keltett, ez mondjuk a pontszámokon nem igazán látszik. Az új
FEAR FACTORY sem mutat újat, a Replica után be kellett volna zárni a boltot és elmenni egy gitártanárhoz zséakkordokat tanulni (elõfordulhat, hogy ez is történt, azért szól ilyen kásásan-unalmasan a lemez), az egyetlen értékelendõ visual kei-eresztés, a
BLOOD nyolcszámos domestic verziója pedig aláhullott a rostán a többivel együtt. Márciusra jobb lemezeket remélünk, értékelõink személyét nem fedem fel, de két zenész az illetõ, kíváncsiak leszünk az értékelési módszereikre).
A dead tired Sunday night with two rubber chicken, up to no avail, though. As for the music: February is quite on the downhill side concerning quality music releases, except for the new VELVET ACID CHRIST (though we could have heard the majority of the tracks previously), the remastered and rarity-filled new material by GOD MODULE, the new :WUMPSCUT: and EMERGENCE produced by none other than RAZED IN BLACK... We gave a big fat red point to a track on the commercially goth-teen-targeted album of SECRET DISCOVERY which is called I Turn to You and yes, that is a cover of ex-Spice Girls Mel C (I've done lots of Dance with Intensity sessions to that track but hey, that's personal). Not a strong liking was expressed regarding the triphoppish etudes of CHANDEEN with its gorgeous female vocals and it's interesting that the new FAIRLIGHT CHILDREN (Apoptygma Berzerk-side project) release caused a great cheering though it didn't show up on the evaluation sheet. The new FEAR FACTORY doesn't show us any good, they should have closed up for good after Replica and go up to a guitar tutor to show'em real weird Z-chords (it might have happened, that's why it sounds so cheeezy and boring) and the only visual kei release we've put out for eval, BLOOD's 8-track domestic version album fell down under with the rest. We really hope that March's gonna bring us cooler albums. The identity of the eval members invited for March will still remain in secrecy though we can say that they both are musicians so we'll be curious to see how they criticize..)

Az új év els SHURIKENjén átvedlett Wrack gumicsirkéje alabárddá, gitárrá, hegedvé, fenekeleszközzé és egy éhez ánuszú szexbálvánnyá. (Fergeteges hangulat') Ami a zenéket illeti, több zenét elemeztünk ki és több is került a képzeletbeli választóvonal alá, az ehavi visual kei eresztések egyike sem nyerte el összességében a kollektíva tetszését (leszámítva az új
MERRY kislemezt, amit Wrack egészében végigröhögött). Valahogy lehetett sejteni, hogy dobogós lesz
LISA GERRARD új szólólemeze és hogy az okkult electro-EBM
YELWORC sem fog éppen szégyenkezni. Kifejezetten nagy örömünkre szolgál a második helyen a tradicionális japán zeneiség, egy 90-es évek eleji pornófilm nyög szaxofonjának és a kell elektronika keveredésének gyermeke,
TOSHINORI KONDO nevével fémjelezve. Kifejezetten szar lett az új
UMBRA ET IMAGO, amit csukott szemmel összekevernénk a Rammsteinnel, ha nem néznénk a borítót és az etherial gothic körökben nagyon várt
MIRABILIS, ahol amúgy a Machine in the Gardenben énekl Summer Bowman énekel, nem is akárhogyan. Nagy örömünkre szolgált egy külss kolléga értékel munkája és amúgy poénjai is,
Whoisnot az
endless.hu kulturális websiteról, még viszontlátjuk, úgy érzem... :)
On the first SHURIKEN of the new year, Wrack's rubber chicken transformed into a halberd, a guitar, a violin, a spanking device and then a sex symbol with a hungry anus. (Fantastic atmosphere!) As for the music, we evaluated more music than usual and actually a greater number of materials managed to end up under the symbolic threshold of good and iffy, actually, none of this month's visual kei releases managed to catch the collective liking of the team - with the only exception of the new MERRY single which Wrack bellowed through, all three tracks. Nice :) We somehow thought that the neither the new LISA GERRARD solo LP, nor the occult electro-EBM YELWORC will have to shameful of itself. Note: we are very happy to see, as a TOP 2 product, the mixture of traditional Japanese music, a moaning saxophone of an early-90's porn flic and some matching electronica, marked by the name of TOSHINORI KONDO. On the other end of the scale, the new UMBRA ET IMAGO is a real piece of crap, we'd mistake it for Rammstein if we didn't have the CD cover, and so is the debuting MIRABILIS a complete disaster, which actually was pretty much expected in the etherial gothic scene. Too bad it features Summer Bowman from Machine in the Garden where she's doing it like a real pro performer. Finally, we were real happy to have a non-crew member evaluating with us, namely, Whoisnot of the cultural webzine endless.hu, we'll meet him again soon if I trust my feelings... :)

A második SHURIKEN est a gumicsirke és a Blup bútorok tömjénezésével telt el. Wrack szerint végre változatos volt
a decemberi hónap, szerintem éppen fordítva, mindenesetre beújításként bedobtunk némi visual kei alapot az értékelnivalók közé. Az elsõ helyet abszolút nem meglepõ módon az extrán értékelt, nem decemberben megjelent anyag, a
SEVERE ILLUSION elsõ nagylemeze vitte el, a recenziót hamarosan olvashatjátok róla. A skála legvégén a Saltatio Mortis csak azért rugaszkodott el az egyes átlagtól, mert a Kiss-féle God Gave Rock'n'Roll-lal nyitottuk a hallgatást, a skótdudával megfejelt hisztérikus átértelmezésre annyira felderültünk, hogy páran még két pontot is adtak rá. Fényképek még mindig nincsenek, viszont jelentkezéseket elfogadunk Shuriken-értékelésekre, ha jók vagytok, velünk tölthettek egy estét és fikázhatjátok az új nagylemezeket.
The second SHURIKEN night was marked by a profound adoration of a plastic chicken and some Blup furniture. According to Wrack, the December selection was diverse at least, I thought just the opposite. Just to keep
things interesting, though, we threw in some new visual kei releases to evaluate. The first place was given -
and this is not a surprise by any means - the odd-one-out album of the month (that is, not released in December), namely the first LP of SEVERE ILLUSION, you can read the review about it soon. On the other end of the scale crawls Saltatio Mortis who could climb this far from the 1.0 average only because we began its evaluating with its Kiss cover song, God Gave Rock'n'Roll.., and this hysteric reinterpretation with the bagpipes made us so jolly happy that some of us even gave it two points instead of one! (yey!) No pictures about this night, though we accept applications for the next Shuriken evals, if you're good and kind and everything, you can spend a night with us, dissing all the new albums.
